SERIES DIRECTOR. ITV 2015 TO 2021
In 2015, ITV re-comminsioned Love Island and employed me as Series Director to bring new life into the format. It has since grown from strength to strength and is now a multi-award wining and multinational format.
I’m involved in most stages of pre production with villa design and incorporation of the fixed rig cameras. I studio direct all live broadcast finals
Here are some highlights of my contribution to the format since inception:
*I Incorporated Jib and railcam into reality coverage – this had never been done before in a fixed rig show of this scale and hugely increased the production values and visual impact of the series. The gliding camera moves give the reality a much glossier look, far beyond all competing formats at the time.
*I set the jib on a gator to enable quick repo’s around the whole villa, opening multi shooting positions that directly increase production values to the viewer.
*Established a PSC crew to shoot slow-motion content in all challenges, that again brings a higher production value to the edit.
*Sent PSC crew into the villa during parties to shoot slow motion, this footage is now often utilised by third party commercial partners for their advertising
*Incorporated PSC into camera hides to shoot slow motion during big format points.
*Created the camera plan and carefully positioning more than 70 cameras to ensure we can shoot intimate close-ups at eyeline for reality storylines.
